Vanriet (UK) Ltd specialise in manufacturing conveyor and automated handling systems for clients such as Pirelli, Boots, Ford, Wedgwood and Marks and Spencer.
With changes to the company structure leading to more autonomy for the UK manufacturing facility, Director Paul Farmery approached MaximITy for advise on what to do with their IT systems.
Having inherited a system from its Dutch owners that was difficult and cumbersome to use as well as expensive to maintain, the business change offered the ideal opportunity to review the IT strategy.
The process involved identifying Vanriet’s IT Key Performance Indicators and applying these to both the existing system and a number of different manufacturing solutions available in the market place. The result of this exercise, managed by MaximITy was the introduction of a completely new manufacturing system developed and maintained by local software company Colbek Systems Ltd.
The implementation took a number of months to complete and was project managed independently by MaximITy. This meant that progress and status were monitored throughout and that issues were identified and dealt with objectively and in a timely manner.
Using a structured approach to project managing the implementation of IT projects is a key factor in achieving a successful transition.
